BRIEF INFORMATION ABOUT DANISH TURKISH ISLAMIC FOUNDATION
October 29th , 2007
Danish Turkish Islamic Foundation is established in 1985 according to the Danish Foundation law as a non-profit organization and its regulation is accepted by Ministry of Justice in Denmark.
Danish Turkish Islamic Foundation is an organization, which mainly carries out religious, social and cultural activities for the purpose of serving its members, at the same time it organizes its member associations for some activities mentioned above.
As Foundation, we also care about and are aware of social problems of our community as a part of the Danish society, especially preventing young peoples` involvement in crime and drug abuse etc. In this respect, our Imams in different mosques, have close contact and cooperation with municipal authorities, educational institutions and police at local levels. For the purpose of peaceful coexistence with the Danish society, we strive to work with Danish autohirities to help solve such problems and achieve better integration into the society.
Danish Turkish Islamic Foundation exists since 1985 as an unmbrella organization and consists of almost 30 associations currently operating in Denmark. These 30 associations have 5000 - 6000 members (family) in total. There are also 20 other associations that are not members but have close ties with the Foundation.
The Foundation and its member associations in different cities nationwide, hold cultural and social activities, which are open for Turks, Danes and others. In 2007 (May), the Foundation became a member of Muslim Council of Denmark in order to contribute to realize aims of Muslims who are living in Denmark.
